The killings at Ozar Hatora

Some 600 Jewish children attend Ozar Hatorah.

Today some 4 of them were killed by a lunatic

together with one of their teachers.

A gunman opened fire on a Jewish school in Toulouse, killing four people. The 30-year-old rabbi, Jonathan Sandler, who taught Yiddish at the Ozar Hatorah school, and his 2 sons (3 and 6 y.o.) were killed in the attack just before classes started at the Ozar Hatorah school in France today. Another child, the daughter of the school principal at the age of 8, was also killed, and a 17-year-old student seriously injured.

Der Serienattentäter hatte am Montag in der Früh vor der jüdischen Schule in Toulouse drei Kinder und einen Lehrer erschossen, in den Tagen zuvor hatte er bereits in Toulouse und Montauban drei Fallschirmjäger der französischen Armee nordafrikanischer Herkunft getötet.

A high school history teacher in France has been suspended for teaching “too much” about the Holocaust, causing her classes to lack “distance, neutrality and secularism.” Education ministry officials investigated the teachings of the educator, Catherine Pederzoli-Ventura and filed a report about the matter back in July.

In France it has become a crime to tell about the crimes of the Nazis.

In the official suspension notice are stated that Pederzoli-Ventura, a 58-year-old practicing Jew lacked objectivity while teaching, and that she had “brainwashed” her students. In addition to in-class Holocaust education, Pederzoli-Ventura has also organized trips to Poland and the CzechRepublic in the past for her students to see and learn about the Nazi death camps. This was also criticized in the report.

The teacher has been organizing the trips for the past 15 years. Only recently did the trips fall under the microscope. “In 2007, a new administration took over the school and they teamed up against her. They want to get rid of her. Had the teacher been Christian, no one would have accused her of brainwashing”.

The principle of secularism and neutrality in France, which Pederzoli-Ventura has been accused of breaching, is meant to protect the separation of church and state in the country.

Among the criticisms that have led to this accusation include using the word “Holocaust” during a meeting with investigators a total of 14 times, while only using the more neutral term “massacre” twice to refer to the horrific events that left six million Jews dead.

and in a free and equal democratic society nobody

have any rights to tell you how many times

you are allowed to use any word!

Pederzoli-Ventura has filed an appeal to overturn the decision to suspend her from teaching. “The only crime I have committed is being Jewish,” she wrote. (facebook.com/catherine.pederzoliventura)

The representative of the Jewish community of Nancy, Stephen Heymann said that the suspension of a history professor, who is alleged to have breached its obligations “of neutrality and secularism”, was “a State scandal that sullies the honor of France”. He called for “a reaction“ of either the Minister or the President of the Republic.

The representative of the Jewish community has scolded Nancy authors of this report, “two Inspectors of Education who are completely misguided, for political and racial considerations,” he said.

“We’ve all heard the statements by the president, about his desire to promote the memory of the Holocaust and all the holocaust VICTIMS.

Pour la huitième année consécutive, ces quatre cursus parallèles et intensifs s’adressent aux intéressés de tous âges, du niveau intermédiaire au niveau professionnel. De nombreuses passerelles permettent à chacun de découvrir l’étendue de ce folklore particulièrement riche ou de parfaire ses connaissances (cours dispensés en français et en anglais).

Stage intensif destiné aux personnes souhaitant apprendre ou réviser l’ alphabet yiddish, lettres carrées ( caractères d’ imprimerie) et lettres cursives ( caractères manuscrits) . À l’ issue du week- end, les participants seront capables de déchiffrer un texte en yiddish..

Enseignante de yiddish et traductrice de grand talent, Batia Baum contribue à faire connaître et aimer du grand public la littérature yiddish. Dans l’ atelier de traduction qu’ elle anime, les participants sont invités à traduire des textes littéraires du yiddish en français.n.

personnes ne fréquentant pas les cours, à condition qu’ elles aient au moins ce niveau.
