Yoymkipper

This year Yoymkipper (Yom Kippur) begins on Tuesday evening, September 25, 2012, and continues through nightfall of September 26, 2012.

Yoymkipper is the most solemn day of the year, but also joyful because we are confident that we will be forgiven our sins and inscribed in the book of life during the coming year in health, and happiness. Religious Jews abstain from food and drink, do not wash, do not shave, do not wear leather footwear, abstain from sexual intimacy and spend most of the day in the synagogue, engaged in repentance and prayer.
